Intensive Reading
We are all out of tissues! Please send in a box or two with your student! Thanks!
I believe in second chances. Any student who scores below 70% on any assignment can fix it or redo it and turn it back in for a better grade. Students can earn up to 75% on the second chance. This includes quizzes and tests. Students will need to see me for a retake for any quiz or test. I am available at 8 a.m. every morning.
Please check my Wish List page to see if there is anything you can help with. Thank you so much for your support!

Vocabulary quiz every Thursday.
Beginning on October 17, students will be expected to read at home every day--seven days a week--for at least 15 minutes. A Reading Status Log will be provided, or you can download one using the link below. Logs will be collected every Monday for a Project Grade.
Beginning on November 21, students will be expected to spend at least 30 minutes on iReady as a classwork grade. As I take them to the computer room every Tuesday, this should not be a problem for any student to complete 30 minutes out of our approximately 50 minutes there. According to the research and the school information, students need to spend at least 60 minutes a week on iReady instruction, so please have your students complete two, fifteen-minute sessions on iReady at home during the week. This time does count towards their Reading Status Log requirement.

Many students did not have a Reading Status Log to turn in on Monday. This is a project grade every Monday. They need to read at home for 15 minutes every night. Reading books, magazines, and newspapers counts. Reading any textbooks to review for other classes counts. Practicing vocabulary for any class counts. Doing iReady Reading for 15 minutes counts.

This week we are going to take a look at some books, examining reviews for the books, and writing our own "preview reviews" of the books. There will be no reading log given for this week. We will also not be visiting the lab for iReady practice.
However:
I would love for the students to start the new semester and third quarter off with some extra credit. When we return to school in January, I will check in on the iReady website. Any student who spends at least 60 minutes on iReady between December 23 and January 8, will earn 100 bonus points to start the new year off in the right direction!
Also:
Any student who does eight, fifteen minute session of reading between December 23 and January 8, and turns in a completed reading log for that time period--with parent signature--will receive 100 bonus points. This reading log will be for reading only--no iReady practice and no vocabulary study. You can download and print a Reading Status Log at the link above.
